Day to day itinerary

Day 1: Quito to Lodge
Age-old tribes such as the Secoya, Siona, Cofan, Huaroni, Achuar and a number of others that still maintain a primitive life and jealously protect costumes that include their clothing, housing, food, natural medicine and celebrations still live here in this Ecuadorian jungle.

Day 2: Activities
Kapawi Lodge
Is a paradise for bird watchers and amateurs alike, more species of bird are found in the Kapawi area alone than in all of North America. Kapawi is on the banks of the Capahuari River, so you can fish for piranha, or take a traditional Achuar canoe or kayak to explore sleepy streams. For those of you who prefer less effort, slip into a rubber ring or swim and let the current carry you down stream.

Yuturi
The complex Cabañas Yuturi, a true paradise, is situated only 180km to the east of the city of Coca on a little hill with a magnificent view of the Yuturi River and the nearby lagoons.
It’s considered one of the best spots to observe birds. Studies carried out by ornithologists documented the existence of more then 400 species of birds which can be found in the different habitats which form the Biological Reserve Yuturi.

Day 3: Activities
Our trips to the Amazon region make an effort to discover the mysteries, the charm, the wisdom and the very essence of being in contact with the virgin forest while we spend our nights in camps and tents.
Activities to choose from are:
An visit to Achuar community:
You will share a day in their lives. This visit will Let. you learn more about their codes of ethics and rules of behavior rather than just simply let you see their homes and families.

Hikes in the jungle:
Easy (up to 3 hours), moderate (up to 5 hours) or difficult (many hours or days) in the tropical forest passing through Achuar communities.

Self-guided path:
It takes about 45 minutes to walk the circumference of the lodge.

Boating:
Canoes and kayaks navigate rivers like the Capahuari or lakes in the region. From the boats, you can see pink dolphins.

Fishing:
All fish caught must be eaten. Piranhas can be seen while fishing.

Camping:
The tourist may choose the day and the place. A group of employees from the Lodge will take food and camping equipment, so camping in the middle of the tropical forest will be quite comfortable.

Nocturnal strolls:
This activity is very interesting and you can appreciate a different facet of the forest -its nightlife.
Alligator hunting:
These trips are at night because these animals are nocturnal.

Bird-watching:
This activity lasts about two hours and usually begins quite early, around 6 am. Approximately 500 different species of birds have been cataloged here.

Swimming:
A refreshing swim is an attraction after a long hike, but swimming is safe only in rivers and quiet lakes and is not always possible because the level of the water is low in the dry season.
